Staff Correspondent: With an objective to formulate a business model that is acceptable and good for the RMG industry, a validation workshop on ‘Assessing Effectiveness of Facilitating Access to Health for Factory Workers through an Insurance System’ held at Hotel Six Seasons, Dhaka today.
As a part of the pilot project the session was organized by SNV Netherlands Development Organization; a Netherlands based non-profit organization in Bangladesh under their Facilitating Access to Heath for Factory Workers through an Insurance System project in which representatives from RMG factories, governmental regulatory body, insurance companies, hospitals, NGOs, brands, retailers, research institutes and many more attended.
This project is funded by Carrefour Foundation.
On behalf of SNV Netherlands Development Organization, Ms. Farhtheeba Rahat Khan, Team Leader- RMG Inclusive Business programs, stated about this project at the start. She pointed towards the goal of it and how they did manage to conduct the assessment with the supports from Carrefour Foundation, Development Research Institute (DRI). She expressed gratitude to all who have been a part of this initiative.
Mr. Mahmudur Rahman Chowdhury, M&E Advisor, SNV and Mr. Jamal Uddin, Inclusive Business Advisor (RMG Inclusive Programs), SNV jointly presented the study findings on Health Insurance Study. The presentation highlighted the mythology and results of the survey being conducted by Development Research Institute (DRI). The key health services RMG workers needed are first aid, doctor consultation and surgical procedures.

Azmal Hossain, Programme Analyst (Urban Health)- United Nations Populations Fund, Mr. Md. Syful Mallick, Regional Manager (Compliance)- Auchan were present during this validation workshop.
