Staff Reporter: With an objective for better understanding on the Guidelines of the Honorable High Court Division on safeguards against abuse and sexual harassment of women at workplaces and educational institutions and effective complaint handing mechanism, a daylong session on ‘Training of Complaint Committee Members’ was held at White Palace Hotel, Uttara, Dhaka yesterday, 24th December 2019.
Funded by Global Fund for Women, the session was organized by Shojag, a coalition consists of four organizations – Naripokkho, Christian Aid, Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) and SNV Netherlands Development Organization.
It was facilitated jointly by Mr. Abdul Alim, CEO- Sustainable Management System Bangladesh and Mr. Dr. Uttam Kumar Das- Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh in which a good number of participants from their partner factories, who are also the representatives from their respective complaint committee, attended.
Definition and type of abuse and sexual harassment, role of complaint committee members, ways of receiving and investigating a complaint, complaint management, complaint management system, challenges and opportunities were some of the key elements of the discussion from the stated vastly experienced conductors.
The session came to an end with an open discussion.
